Bus Tour Tuesday morning
at Ohio University
in Athens, Ohio where,
along with Rev. Jesse
Jackson, United Mine
Workers of America
President Cecil Roberts,
American Federation
of State, County and
Municipal Employees
(AFSCME) Executive
Assistant to the President
Lee Saunders, and other
labor and public interest
leaders, he ignited
a group of university
students and workers
from around southeastern
Ohio.

From McClellandtown
to Weirton and Parkersburg,
the “Reinvest
in America: Put America
Back to Work!” Appalachian
Bus Tour traveled through
towns in Pennsylvania
and West Virginia hardest
hit by an increasing
loss of jobs and affordable
health care. The tour
arrived at the Lakeside
Center in McClellandtown,
PA, for a jobs/healthcare/education
rally early Monday
morning which was attended
by UMWA members and
their families.

Staying with
Families
During Appalachian
Bus Tour
During the “Reinvest in America: Put America Back to Work!” Appalachian Bus Tour, Rev. Jesse Jackson is spending two nights in the homes of families. On Sunday, June 6, Rev. Jackson stayed with Ed and Mary Yankovich. Ed Yankovich is president of the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) District 2, which includes Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, and Eastern Canada. He drove Rev. Jackson to his home in Uniontown, Pennsylvania where Jackson visited with the family and spent the night following the Pittsburgh rally.

a broad coalition
of organizations
that are
joining together
in this election
year to focus
attention
on what matters
most to American
families
and communities:
well-paying
jobs, affordable
healthcare
and quality
education.
