Gephardt and Kucinich to Join Appalachian Bus Tour

Congressman Richard Gephardt and Congressman Dennis Kucinich announced today that they will join Rev. Jesse Jackson, United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) President Cecil Roberts and other union and non-profit leaders for events during the "Reinvest in America: Put America Back to Work!" Appalachian Bus Tour.

Kucinich, originally scheduled to speak at the bus tour kickoff rally, will now speak at the Voter Registration Rally at the Monumental Baptist Church, 2240 Wilie Ave. in Pittsburgh, scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday June 6. He will also attend the press conference following the rally at United Steelworkers of America Headquarter, Five Gateway Center, scheduled for 5:00 p.m.

Gephardt will join the tour for a rally at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, at noon
on Tuesday, June 8.

The "Reinvest in America: Put America Back to Work!" campaign represents a broad coalition of organizations that are joining together in this election year to focus attention on what matters most to American families and communities: well-paying jobs, affordable healthcare and quality education.

The campaign is sponsored by the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition; United Mine Workers of America (UMWA); American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME); United Steelworkers of America (USW); AFL-CIO; National Community Action Foundation (NCAF); International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers (IUBAC); American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE); Communications Workers of America/International Union of Electronic, Electrical, Salaried, Machine and Furniture Workers (CWA/IUE); and Paper, Allied-Industrial, Chemical and Energy Workers International Union (PACE).
